However, there is something especially satisfying about supporting a client through a complete rebuild. That’s what happened during Michelle’s Career Freedom process.
Michelle’s situation:
When she came to me, Michelle was feeling a sense of dread and desperation about her current situation. She had recently been let go from a large law firm, and not for the first time. Although she was understandably panicked about being out of work, she also suspected there might be a silver lining.
While aspects of her work as a paralegal were satisfying, she had never felt it was the perfect fit. She had been let go due to organizational restructuring, but wondered whether her employers also felt she wasn’t as organized, committed, or passionate about the work as they expected. She was tired of the high-pressure, fast-paced, cut-throat environment of most law firms. She was ready for a change but felt overwhelmed and unsure of her options.
The turning point:
Through our work together, Michelle realized that she thrived in creative environments that delivered real-world solutions. Organization was a skill she possessed, but not something she genuinely cared about or valued. She wanted to help people in more tangible ways and use her creativity to bring ideas to life. Together, we explored her options and researched fields with strong growth opportunities.
Michelle arrived at our final session excited to share that she had enrolled in a kitchen and bath design program at her local community college! For the first time in decades, she felt excited about her career future and looked forward to spending her days doing work she enjoyed alongside other creative, yet practical, people.
In Michelle’s words:
“I had actually thought about going into kitchen and bath design in my early 20s, but dismissed it in favour of what I thought was a more stable career path.
Although I learned a lot during my career as a paralegal, I was more than ready to make a change.
